Benjamin Mitchell is a certified Alexander Technique teacher who helps people move, release tension, and live with greater ease and awareness. Originally from California and now based in Dublin, Benjamin discovered the Alexander Technique while recovering from injuries sustained as a professional musician. What began as a path to healing quickly became a profound shift in how he approached movement and daily life.
Inspired by this transformation, he completed a three-year, 1,620-hour certification at the Alexander Technique Institute of Los Angeles. Benjamin enjoys working with individuals from all backgrounds—whether they’re seeking relief from pain and tension, looking to overcome performance anxiety, or simply wanting to feel more balanced and present. His teaching is warm, practical, and tailored to each student’s unique needs.
Benjamin has taught privately and in group settings at institutions including the Colburn School, Lucerne Festival Academy, Oberlin Conservatory, Technische Universität Berlin, and University of Southern California. He is also an accomplished clarinetist and the founder of the Kaleidoscope Chamber Orchestra. Benjamin has collaborated with other distinguished organisations including the Ensemble Intercontemporain, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Lucerne Festival, Houston Symphony, National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland, and the Royal Opera House.
If you’re curious about how small changes in movement and awareness can lead to big changes in how you feel, please get in touch!
I came to Benjamin for help with chronic back pain that no amount of stretching or exercise seemed to fix. From the very first lesson, I started to notice small but powerful changes. He helped me become aware of how my posture and movement habits were contributing to the discomfort. With his gentle, thoughtful guidance, I’ve learned how to move with less effort and more awareness, and my back pain has significantly improved. What I appreciate most is that this isn’t a quick fix or a set of exercises, it’s a whole new way of relating to my body. I feel more comfortable, confident, and in control. If you’re dealing with persistent pain, I highly recommend giving lessons with Benjamin a try. It’s made a real difference in my daily life!

As a professional musician, I was struggling with pain and performance anxiety that were starting to affect both my playing and my confidence. Working with Benjamin has been a game-changer. His understanding of the physical and mental demands of performing made me feel immediately understood and supported. Through the Alexander Technique, I’ve learned how to release tension, play with more ease, and stay grounded under pressure. The pain that once felt constant has eased significantly, and I feel more connected to both my body and my music. Benjamin’s calm, thoughtful teaching style creates a space where real change can happen. I only wish I had started lessons sooner. If you’re a musician dealing with similar challenges, I can’t recommend him enough.

I struggled for years with performance anxiety and difficulty projecting my voice without strain. But, working with Benjamin through the Alexander Technique has completely changed how I approach my craft as an actor. His calm, intuitive teaching helped me become aware of habits I didn’t even realize were holding me back. I’ve learned how to stay grounded, breathe more freely, and speak with clarity and confidence. My anxiety hasn’t disappeared overnight, but I now have tools to manage it and feel more present on stage. Benjamin creates a supportive, judgment-free space where you can truly explore and grow, reaching your potential.

Before working with Benjamin, I had no idea how much tension I was unconsciously carrying in my body. His approach is calm, insightful, and incredibly supportive. Each lesson feels like a reset—he helps you tune into the small, everyday patterns that affect how you move, breathe, and even think. I’ve noticed real improvements in how I feel, both physically and mentally. I’m more grounded, present, and comfortable in my own body. If you’re even a little curious about the Alexander Technique, I highly recommend working with Benjamin. He creates a space that’s welcoming, empowering, and genuinely transformative!
