DEIRDRE MADDEN

About Deirdre Madden

I practice as a Humanistic and Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist and am an accredited member of IAHIP (Irish Association of Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy).

I have worked with many clients on issues including anxiety, negative thinking, stress management, depression, family and relationship difficulties, bereavement and loss, work related issues and personal development. I am also a qualified Yoga teacher.

Some of the styles I use are Person-Centred, Gestalt and Psychodynamic; tailoring the therapy to suit each your individual needs and requirements. I have previously trained and worked as a Helpline Volunteer with AWARE for their Support Line, and have worked as a Volunteer Counsellor in Living Life Counselling Centre in Bray. Many people who experience a loss of meaning in their lives or who are seeking a greater sense of fulfilment may be helped by counselling or psychotherapy.

Humanistic and Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy

Humanistic means client-centred and working with the individual. A fundamental aspect of the Humanistic approach is the emphasis on the therapeutic relationship. The relationship is collaborative, based on trust, and both you and I are actively engaged in shaping the process of assessing your needs, struggles, desires and goals.

The Integrative approach focuses on your capacity considering your limitations and constraints, to support you on a journey towards self-healing and self-efficacy.

Humanistic and integrative psychotherapy works towards developing your sense for self-responsibility and your choices, and your capacity to fulfil your talents. I work with you, to accompany on a journey so that you can develop a strong sense of self and fulfil your potential.

Contents of the session

I usually meet a new client for an initial session or consultation to assess compatibility and needs. From there, if we are both in agreement, we will contract for 6 initial sessions and then review. From the review, we will check-in regarding the work so far to ensure you are benefiting and if you would like to proceed.

I provide a non-judgemental, safe, supportive, confidential space where we will work together collaboratively to help you gain a better understanding of where you are at, to achieve a better overall sense of wellbeing and fulfilment.
