ANNE CUMMINS

About Anne Cummins

A qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist BSc hons, Anne also holds a certificate in the Therapeutic Use of Mindfulness; and is a pre accredited member of IACP.
Anne works from a Person Centred approach – which is non-directive. It is a Humanistic approach which believes in the client’s actualising tendency and inherent potential for creative growth and change.

A variety of factors can affect an individual’s ability to flourish – including low self-esteem, a lack of self-reliance and very little openness to new experience.
Therapy is offered in a neutral and comfortable setting where a client can feel at ease, authentic and open to learning about themselves. In this way the approach offers individuals the opportunity to counteract past experiences that may have affected conditions of worth.
Benefits of this therapy include:
• Better self-understanding and awareness.
• Decreased defensiveness and insecurity.
• Greater ability to trust oneself.
• Healthier relationships.

In Person Centred counselling an individual can expect to work towards a closer agreement between their idealised self and actual self – and experience an overall healthy sense of change.
